Ode to Mr. Smarty-Pants

miss_pryssSo Mr. S-P has started doing Sudoku on the train, just like me.
Friday night, he and I put our heads together to solve a really hard one he had gotten stuck on. We got nowhere.
So you know what he did? He's been busily writing and honing an algorithm program thingie to solve it for us. So far it's only spat out a couple of numbers we didn't get before it fails to solve this really hard puzzle, but it's been able to solve any easy-to-medium puzzle we throw at it.
Somehow I like the idea that it's almost as hard to write a program smart enough to solve a really hard puzzle as it is to solve the puzzle yourself.
