1) For reasons that don't bear exploring at this juncture, Mr. Smarty-Pants is taking organic chemistry at an Ivy League institution this year. He's about to start his lab for real, and has been reading the terrifyingly draconian lab manual. It seriously reads like a potions lab manual written by Severus Snape. Every other sentence is something like, "failure to dispose of your isometric carboxcyllic plasma in the isometric carboxcyllic plasma container will result in an immediate failure of the class." Just swap in "Albanian manticore bile" for "isometric carboxcyllic plasma" (which I just made up--as I'm sure is obvious) and you're in Hogwarts.

2) My hair turned out beautifully. It's more a light teal than a sky blue, but I'm not complaining.

3) I have to go to the dentist tomorrow morning. I have a hurty tooth that I suspect of being rotty. OW!

4) I had a pleasant and productive weekend! Friday sucked monkey balls, but once I got into Saturday, everything was sweet and perfect. I had brunch with a girlfriend of mine Saturday morning and then picked up two posters from the frame shop. Later in the day, after writing a thank-you note to a family friend who gave us a beautiful painting for our wedding, I went grocery shopping and also got a new flower pot and some potting soil with which to repot my poor, brave little jade tree.

While the teal dye set in my hair, I made dinner -- a kind of hummus without tahini that's mostly just chickpea, lemon juice, garlic, olive oil and cilantro -- which was eaten with pita and corn chips.

Today, I joined Mr. Smarty-Pants and his friend Mohammed for brunch/lunch. Then, back at home, I organized my desk drawer and my sewing stuff and sewed a button onto my favorite kurta -- a hand-me-down from [livejournal.com profile] ukashin's dad. Mr. Smarty-Pants returned from collecting his lab notebook, and I read fic while he read chemistry, then he took a nap and I repotted by jade tree, which hasn't died yet. (fingers are crossed, though). Dinner was tofu ravioli with wilted baby spinach and garlic oil. Not bad!

Anyway, tomorrow's another scary day at work, with a late start due to early-morning dentistry. Wish me luck, people.
