Late to every party

I'm going to give it a try. I can no longer resist the lure of sad young men with blood on their faces! But -- I have very limited time for tee vee these days.
So: Netflix has Season 1 queued up for me. I want to see the best and most important episodes. I have time to watch maybe half of the first season, all told. Can you help me decide *what* to watch?
