This is a terrific little snippet, all full of fun and atmosphere and sexy, sexy Sam/Dean.

The demon takes John's Colt but leaves him alive, apparently on the premise that John's living future holds misery a-plenty. John's POV is perfect in this story, and it's always interesting to see the Sam-and-Dean club from an outside perspective.

I recently took a little trip down memory lane to my first fandom, and favorite stories therein. So here's a small and random assortment of happy-making X-Files fics that I still love, after all these years.
Courage to Forget by JiM.
X-Files, Skinner/Krycek.
Unadulterated schmoop, just like most of the "Houseboat Variations", which can all be found here.
The "Kill or Cure" trilogy (Stroke of Luck, Dogs of War, and Game of Kings), byhth_the_first.
X-Files, Mulder/Krycek.
This story stands the test of time better than almost any of my old favorites.
The "Sovreignity" trilogy Scatter, Signals, and Sufferance), by Vehemently.
X-Files, gen (mostly -- complex interpersonal relationships but no nookie.)
Mulder and Scully come across Krycek during the course of an investigation. This story is so huge and so complex it's hard for me to say more about it, but I will say that the dynamic between Scully and Krycek is especially fascinating.
