I'm posting from email and I can't remember how to do LJ cuts so I'll keep
this short and spoiler-free:

Criss Angel is a Douchebag: I felt a little blah about this ep but
it might be because I was sick when I watched it. On the other hand, now I
know who this Criss Angel guy is, and he does in fact appear to be a
douchebag.

After School Special: That last moment killed me. Other than that,
I was mostly squirming over the hell of being in high school, which is a
personal squick that has only recently raised its head in my psyche,
possibly brought on by the fact that I recently finished reading

Skyscrapers of the Midwest, which is one of the best comics
released this year. This book broke my heart so bad, but it's worth it.

Speaking of things that break my heart, I was home sick yesterday and I
regained my health by watching:

My Neighbor Totoro, which kills me every time. It's such an amazing
blend of the best and worst in life. Mei especially amazes me every time,
clutching that ear of corn... it gets me in my heart box, a solid THUMP.

Finally: I'm going to be at NY Comic Con this weekend! Are YOU?

'The Windhover'

I caught this morning morning's minion, king-
dom of daylight's dauphin, dapple-dawn-drawn Falcon, in his riding
Of the rolling level underneath him steady air, and striding
High there, how he rung upon the rein of a wimpling wing
In his ecstasy! then off, off forth on swing,
As a skate's heel sweeps smooth on a bow-bend: the hurl and gliding
Rebuffed the big wind. My heart in hiding
Stirred for a bird, - the achieve of, the mastery of the thing!

Brute beauty and valour and act, oh, air, pride, plume, here
Buckle! AND the fire that breaks from thee then, a billion
Times told lovelier, more dangerous, O my chevalier!

No wonder of it: sheer plod makes plough down sillion
Shine, and blue-bleak embers, ah my dear,
Fall, gall themselves, and gash gold-vermilion.
