And re: Mad Men, as I'm sure you've probably been told, it does take quite a while to come together. I didn't start really caring about the characters until mid-to-late first season, but when it did, oh boy. It's definitely more of a ... one season equals a novel rather than a batch of short stories kind of narrative, but I do understand saying *nah* to it.
Also, I am with you re: being left cold by Inception itself but being o_O *grabbyhands* by Arthur/Eames.
