My own favorite stories that I've never written. Tragically I only have time for one or two before I head out.
1) Faith, Trust, and Pixie Dust
X-Files, Mulder/Pendrell, 15 K, R.
Agent Sean-Brian-Jimmy Pendrell wakes up one day with a bad-tempered and somewhat vulgar fairy hovering over his head. She accompanies him to work, chattering and making rude comments about everything. Everyone he meets in the office is too freaked out by the fairy to deal with him, but they also refuse to acknowledge her presence. Skinner dismisses him from a meeting, Scully won't make eye contact, the lab director tells him he's got some vacation due, so go home and get to it. On the way out of the building, Scott-Daniel-Jacob Pendrell meets up with Mulder, who complements him on his fairy. Pendrell's so relieved he plants a big one on Mulder right there, which Mulder heartily returns. They go have vacation together. Sort of a variant on the "character X woke up gay" - "character X woke up with a fairy on his shoulder."
Favorite line: "Why, Agent Pendrell, that's a lovely fairy you've got there."
2) Back From the Mountain
HP, Harry/Snape, 40 K, NC-17
Harry leaves Hogwarts to go do some mysterious stuff, and returns 5 years later to take over the groundskeeper position when Hagrid retires to the south of France with Madame Whatsername. No-one knows exactly what Harry's been up to in the interim, but he's turned into something of a mountain man. Big leather hat, scruffy beard, pet muskrat, total lack of tact. He and Snape meet up, Snape tries some experimental snark, and Harry puffs out his big broad chest and backs Snape into a wall with the force of his machismo alone. Yeah, I don't know.
Favorite line: "Shut up. I'm bigger than you are."
