I am not even kidding. OMFG, y'all.

I just found out that my department is moving to a different floor. This means I will have to give up my snug, cozy, darling, sweet little cube with its four tall, tall walls and its festoons of bright things, and -- most importantly -- the fact that my monitor is positioned so that no one can see what I am looking at unless they come into the cube and look over my shoulder.

I am giving this up. And what do I get? A corner in one of those huge big communal "bays" where I face the corner and my computer monitor faces the WHOLE WORLD.

I have been in this cube for TWO AND A HALF YEARS. I have bonded with this cube. I have imprinted on this cube. And I am frickin' addicted to LJ, which I will probably have to GIVE UP during working hours so I don't look like a lazy slacker -- or a creepy perv -- to the ONE HUNDRED PEOPLE WHO WILL REGULARLY BE ABLE TO SEE MY MONITOR.

I may be freaking out, just a little.

Can you say something about how that setup would make you nervous? A lot of people -- me among them -- feel very weird about having their backs exposed; I couldn't work like that even if being on LJ all day was my actual job description. They might be able to figure something else out, maybe?

Oh, I'm totally going to say something -- but I really don't think there's anything they can do. All of the offices are tied up with people who are senior to me, and there *are* no private cubes on that floor. GRRR! I'm so pissed!
