OK, so I always figured that there had to be a way to do frame-by-frame advance and reverse in VLC and that I just hadn't figured it out yet.
But tonight I googled it and found a forum where a VLC developer was carefully explaining that VLC has no concept of what a "frame" is and therefore could never, ever ever in a million years be hacked to include frame-by-frame capability.
Yuck.
So I need a new media player. Preferably one that can play as wide a variety of formats as VLC, but I could get by with something that could just do AVIs, as I buckled and installed WMP recently. I'm on a mac, I've got Quicktime but not the correct codecs. Maybe that's all I need?
Thoughts?
