Also:

Showed my mom some vids. Scooby Road, the WTFPOLARBEAR vid, and the SGA vid "Stress".

She thought they were nifty and innovative. This from a woman who told me years ago she thought fan fiction seemed sort of sad and pointless -- why use other people's characters like puppets when you could be using your creative energy to make up your own?

Dunno, mom. If you don't get it, I can't really explain it. But I'm glad she liked the vids, anyhow.

That's interesting. Wouldn't have expected that.

I know, right? I don't bring up the subject of fan fiction with my parents anymore because their reaction to it was so negative when I told them about it the first time. I think they're arty snobs -- they distrust anything so derivative or pop-cultury as fanfic.

That seems like them. I don't talk about it to my parents since I wrote this story when I was fifteen--the first one I finished--that took place between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back, and thus there was Luke and Leia flirting going on. They were weirded out and wouldn't let me post it online. I don't talk to them about my stories anymore because most of my stories would weird them out even more. I don't really stay in the domains of safe subject matter in my stories.

They do know I still read other people's though, and they think it's a waste of time.

Ooh, and I just thought of an idea for a vid today. I think I could do it. Yay, new medium to express my fannishness.
