OK, so on the subway on the way home tonight I was pondering two mysterious and slightly TMI questions.

1) I find that my appetite and also my emotional interest in food varies pretty predictably according to my cycle. I'm usually less hungry and less *interested* in food during the first two weeks. Then, in the week before my period and the week of my period, I'm way more hungry, and there's an emotional element to eating during those two weeks that there isn't during the first two weeks. It doesn't seem to matter what kind of food, either. I have no idea if other women find their appetites changing so markedly according to hormonal cycles. So I figured I'd ask.

2) I also want to ask something that's been bugging me for a very long time. Often I'll go to the multi-stall bathroom at work and find myself sitting next to someone who is taking, like, five minutes to pee. There's an unsteady tinkle, punctuated by the occasional pause, and sometimes it will slow down to nearly a drip. Now me, I'm a pisser. I pee hard and fast. I practically spray. I really don't think I could pee that slowly if I tried. In fact, I have tried. And I can't. So what gives?
