Question about McKay and Mrs Miller

That scene at the end, where the team were all revealing that they didn't love Rod so much anyway... I thought that was supposed to be, like, this awesome reveal that they like their own neurotic team dynamic just fine, and they were sort of uncomfortable with Rod's normal-ness or heroism or whatever.
But several people on my flist have refered to the wonderful scene at the end when the team lies to make Rodney feel better.
So which is it? What do you guys think?
