That scene at the end, where the team were all revealing that they didn't love Rod so much anyway... I thought that was supposed to be, like, this awesome reveal that they like their own neurotic team dynamic just fine, and they were sort of uncomfortable with Rod's normal-ness or heroism or whatever.

But several people on my flist have refered to the wonderful scene at the end when the team lies to make Rodney feel better.

So which is it? What do you guys think?

Well, because throughout *everyone* acted genuinely pleased to hang around him, and of that group, there's really only one of them who could and would fake that convincingly (Teyla), I tend to think that, yes, they were fibbing. BUT IT WAS A FIB OF GREAT LOVE.

What she said. Plus, as much as they liked Rod, it wasn't like anyone was shedding tears that he left. They like him, but he wasn't actually *team*.

Yes, exactly. So it was maybe a bit of both.

OK, well, if it was a fib of great love then I guess I can get behind that. :)

I like to think the team as something a bit like a wife who has seen a little bit of her husband post Queer Eye For The Straight Guy and doesn't want so much change, but maybe the haircut.

HAH! Great analogy.

I thought it was a little of both - I thought they did actually like Rod & enjoyed hanging out with him*, but in the long run Rodney's one of them & that's the way they like it. But I think they played it up to make Rodney feel better, in a way that wouldn't have been necessary if it had been, say, Ronon or Teyla.

*although just as I was typing this it occurred to me, after Irresistible!Lucius, you think they'd be a little more creeped out by charming strangers.

RIGHT!? But if there's one thing this show has taught us it's that this crew TOTALLY DOESN"T EVER LEARN FROM PAST MISTAKES.
