The continuing adventures of Bitchface and Butch

This is getting ridiculous.

So I love Sam and Dean, obviously. How could you not? It's a new fandom for me, and I'm definitely feeling that now-familiar first flush of fannish love.

But I have never before had the experience of constantly WORRYING about my new BSOs. I'll be sitting at my desk at work, and suddenly I'll be overcome with anxiety about Sam and Dean and how they're going to ever find happiness in their bleak, fucked up world. They're trying so hard, but the odds are stacked against them, man. I just really, really want them to be happy. And I worry about them.

Kind of a lot.

*pats your head* Don't worry. Those crazy kids will work it out!

*worries*

Pet made a really interesting point about this in the incest panel at Con.txt. She said that incest fic is so appealing in this world (and with the Weasleys) because they're probably going to have short, unstable, dangerous, lonely lives, and being together might make it happier.

YES, exactly. You just really want to see them eek some joy out of their scary-ass lives, even (especially?) if it means finding that joy in unusual or untraditional places.

Aw, honey. Our poor boys. Things are looking mighty bleak for them. Though, I do hear that Sam gets laid soon, so maybe that will help. Plus, they always have each other, and that's all they really need, right? Right? *sigh*

Part of the heartbreaking thing is they love each other so much, but they want suc different things out of life. But people evolve, and stranger matches than theirs (OK, maybe not MUCH stranger) have succeeded...
