It's been a while since I posted anything substantial, so here's a sort of drive-by update on what's going on with me.

1. Work is good.

2. I've been cooking a lot. And Fresh Direct has proved (prooved? today is one of those days where all words look equally wierd to me) itself to me through four perfect deliveries in a row. I'm good and hooked.

3. I'm reading THE TIME TRAVELLER'S WIFE and I am DEEPLY CONFLICTED about it right now. Discussion welcome but please no spoilers about the ending -- I'm up to the day before their wedding, if that means anything to you.

4. I've been watching UGLY BETTY and exploding with delight and joy and deep, deep heartfelt love for pretty much everybody on that show. I especially love: Betty's sweet, husky voice; Daniel's manpain; Daniel's cheerful sluttery; Amanda's brittle facade; Evil Marc!; the whole aesthetic; that adorable guy from Accounting -- who I figured out why I know him! He's totally HARRISON from "POPULAR"! POPULAR FANS REPRESENT OMG!

5. I joined a chorus! [livejournal.com profile] perfectbinding is in it too. Our concert is on December 3 -- NY area people who like this sort of thing might consider attending. I'll probably send out an email about it at some point.

6. This morning I was in such a good mood, for some inexplicable reason that I'm sure didn't have anything to do with any big changes in the distribution of political power in the US. Anyhow, I got up early and made brownies! FREEDOM brownies! And brought them into work. They don't suck!

7. I cooked turnips for the first time in my life last weekend. I put them in fannish white bean and rosemary soup; named so because I got the recipe from my flist. They kind of disappeared into the soup. Next time I'm going to try cooking them in a little water then sauteeing them and their greens in garlic and olive oil.

8. If I crane my head up a bit and peer over the cube wall of my desk, I can see into someone else's office and out their window, where it is raining buckets. But if I let my eyes go slightly unfocussed, I can pretend that the rain is actually wet, fast-falling snow. OH HOW I LONG FOR SNOW.

9. I am going to visit my parent's house in a couple of weeks and keep my newly transmigrated grannie company while my parents are in Ireland (the lucky bastards). I'm a little worried about this because my grannie and I don't really have much to talk about, and if I'm being honest she actually sort annoys me most of the time -- she needs a lot of attention. But she's sick, and lonely, and I do love her, so I'm going. Maybe we can play a lot of scrabble or something.

10. I am gearing up to do my annual SECULAR WINTER HOLIDAY CARD mailing. I've got so frickin many people on the list at this point that a few more isn't even going to register, so:

+++++

If you are a person who would enjoy getting a pretty Christmas SECULAR WINTER HOLIDAY card from a person like me, you could email me at miss_pryss@livejournal.com and tell me where and to whom to send it!
