Cons and farmers
Aug. 21st, 2007 07:33 amPost-Vividcon season (late august) is like when vids finally ripen and appear on the market. Suddenly, after a whole year of occasionally spotting them, overpriced and under-ripe, and only in specialty markets, they're everywhere. Abundant and flavorful.
June is for local strawberries, July is for cheap basil, early august is for cherries, late august is for vids, and September is for tomatoes and early apples.
I don't go to vividcon, but I imagine sometimes that it's like a big harvesting party, with all the farmers and fieldworkers of fandom bustling about, joyously plucking the fruits of their labor off the branch and showing it off to their fellow farmers, then graciously sending it out into the world for the rest of us.
This post brought to you by too little sleep, too little tea, and a mind still reeling from
geekturnedvamp's Vividcon round-up show on Sunday.
Shows I have (renewed or new) interest in after Sunday:
- BSG
- Carnivale
- Dexter
Guys, I don't have time for these shows. But I waaaant to waaatch them.
*Sigh*
