Last night, I sat down to read an SGA story by a very respectable author. But I almost clicked the "back" button right away, because she misspelled John's name! She spelled it "Sheppard" like three times in the first paragraph.
I was shocked -- shocked! -- that someone so a) meticulous and b) experienced in SGA fandom would make that mistake. I shook my head in condescending wonder. What was the world coming to?
Then I thought, "but how is it spelled?"
And then I looked it up.
Yeah, oops.

Date: 2007-01-30 03:09 pm (UTC)I have the reverse problem now. I had to spell "shepherd" for some reason the other day and it took me three tries not to spell it sheppard (and it still looks wrong!).
