My primary Firefox window has run out of room for new tabs, so here goes another little multi-genre recs jamboree as I start closing windows...

*

Back in December, [livejournal.com profile] out_there wrote this wonderful little series of kisses, all of them Casey/Danny Sports Night AUs.

Then, then! Just recently, she posted a follow-up to the middle vignette, and here it is... just as lovely as you'd expect.

*

Another story-and-follow-up set: Back in March, [livejournal.com profile] spike21 wrote "C9H13NO3", a hot-hot-hot (and funny!) SGA John/Rodney fic with some fantastic light bondage: "“I’m such a cliché,” he moaned and humped the mattress. “Tyrannical task master in the lab by day; submissive pussy-boy to my soldier boyfriend by night…” ...and it was good.

And then, and then, and then: she wrote this sequel, "Age in Grade", where Rodney gets on John's nerves and then makes it up to him in spades.

*

The second annual "Who's hotter: fan writers or fan artists?" contest. Go, ogle, boggle, stare. It's fun! There are boobies!

*

SGA fic by [livejournal.com profile] cesperanza: Pure Bodies and Clean Hearts. Written for the sga_flashfic virgin challenge. John gets re-virginized! Some wonderful revelations about his teammates are made, but the core of this story is the very moving stripping-away of John's worldly defenses, and what he finds waiting for him with Rodney.

*

SGA fic by [livejournal.com profile] resonant8: Experience. Also written for the sga_flashfic virgin challenge! Rodney and John meet... in high school. I love how John is known only by Rodney's dismissive appellation "the new kid" for, like, half of the story.

*

DC Universe fic by [livejournal.com profile] ficbyzee: Unicorn Bait. Yes, more virgins. Kon tries to give Tim a wedgie with his TTK and things go down(up?)hill from there. Hot and funny and sweet, like the best fic with those two always is.

*

SGA art by [livejournal.com profile] mutecornett: an illustration from [livejournal.com profile] flambeau's "The Machinery of Heaven" (which I'm throwing in a sub-rec for here: go read it, it's amazing). Anyway, this illustration.... it's very, very beautiful. [livejournal.com profile] mutecornett is just about my favorite fan artist these days. Her work is so expressive, and there's something about the way she draws John that just takes my heart apart piece by piece. Also, those peaches look really good.

*

Harry Potter art by [livejournal.com profile] brevisse: a little comic about young fans -- and what they find out about the grown-up Harry Potter. I especially love Harry's furry tummy. He looks so adorably unglamorous.

*

Non-fannish: Absolutely the world's cutest kitten, on Cute Overload.

*

Non-fannish: A really good recipe for vegan chocolate cake. This is the one I made for Mr. Smarty-Pants a while back.

*

SGA fic: "Stairway to Heaven", by [livejournal.com profile] spike21. There's not much I can say about this story except that it sort of sums up my love for Rodney, and my love for Rodney/John. Go read it, you really really won't regret it.

*

Non-fannish: "Nine Planets Without Intelligent Life." This is one of my favorite web-comics. It's about two robots, Chris and Ben, and their hilarious, sad, thoughtful existential journey through the solar system. I recommend HIGHLY.

Our larder was eeeempty, so I went grocery shopping and bought FUDE. Here is what I cooked and et today:

1) Weird savory muffins. Mr. Smarty-Pants pointed out that they were essentially biscuits. If I do them again, I'll use 1 cup whole wheat and 1 cup white; use more oil and swap in olive oil for veggie oil; use LOTS more olives.

- Corn meal (1 cups)
- white flour (2 cups)
- baking powder (2 Tbsps)
- Salt (1.5 tsps)
- chopped fresh rosemary (3 Tbsps)
- chopped olives (3/4 cup)
- vegetable oil (1/4 cup)
- soy milk (1 cup)
- drizzle of olive oil infused with chili and garlic

2) Tasty cilantro hummus. So easy! Just throw everything into the food processor and grind, grind away.

- 2 cans canned garbonzo beans, rinsed
- 5 cloves garlic, fried whole in a few tablespoons of cheap olive oil
- 2 tablespoons nice olive oil
- 1 bunch of cilantro
- 1 Tbs vegetable stock (water would have worked as well)
- 1 tsp balsamic vinegar (lemon juice would have worked better)
- salt

3) FABULOUS roasted winter vegetables. SO FUCKING BEST. I like to dice everything up pretty small so it cooks fast and has lots of surface area to get crunchy. Even so, I left it in the oven spread on cookie sheets for ~45 mins, and that was not too long.

- 1 doz little new red potatos
- 1 doz baby portobello mushrooms
- 1 doz baby carrots
- 3 Tbs chopped fresh rosemary
- half a head garlic, chopped fine
- big glug olive oil
- a few pinches Malden salt
- a few grinds pepper
- a drizzle of olive oil infused with chili and garlic
