Mr. Smarty-Pants and I picked up two beautiful, round, yellow quinces at Fairway this weekend.

Anyone ever cooked quince? Quinces? I don't know how to pluralize that.

Anyhow, if you have a recipe, please share it! I'm kind of at a loss.

Do people cook quince? I thought you mostly ate it with Spanish cheeses.

Quinces can be cooked into jam or paste to eat with cheese, camemberts and bries. Also, I can't read the tiny tiny font in yhour comment box so spelling mistakes are not my fault.

You can poach a quince - like you micght poach a pear - and have it with ice cream or yoghurt or in some other dessert fashion.

Don't forget to rub all the fur off the skin under running water before you peel it.

Mmm, I'm liking this poaching business. Mayhap I will try that! And thanks for the fur tip -- though (perhaps because these are commercially grown and sold) they don't seem very furry to me.

Btw, weird that the comment box makes text so small -- it doesn't do that for me, but maybe it's my browser or something?

Perhaps there's a de-furring process or you have a fur-free quince variety? I am sadly not an expert, just someone who has scoffed a LOT of quince paste with my cheese.
